Hi, Cougar Family!

My name is Ann Price and I am the principal of Newport Elementary, where all students succeed. My career started 10 years ago at Charles R. Drew Intermediate (now Charles R. Drew Elementary). While there, I taught 5th and 6th grade Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I absolutely loved my time in the classroom and my Drew family, but in 2018 I took a leap of faith and became the assistant principal at Newport Elementary.

My time at NES has been delightful! I have had the opportunity to serve alongside my former teachers, I have gained great mentors, and most importantly, I have had the opportunity to influence future generations of leaders. In 2021, my career took a turn when I was named principal of NES.  I credit this accomplishment to my wonderful mom, grandmother, aunt, and my community.

I was raised in Barrett Station and I graduated from Crosby High School. After high school, I attended Stephen F. Austin State University where I received my degree in communication studies in 2013. In 2018, I went on to pursue my masters degree in educational leadership from the University of North Texas. Though I cherish both opportunities, my greatest accomplishment is being able to work in the same community that provided me with love, support, and a great education. I look forward to many years of service in the Barrett/Crosby Community.

Hi! My name is Ashley Callis, and I am the Assistant Principal of Newport Elementary.

I bring 17 years of experience in education, having served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach kindergarten, 4th grade, and 8th grade in Aldine ISD and Sheldon ISD. I also served as an instructional coach in Channelview ISD and most recently as an assistant principal in Aldine ISD.

I am thrilled to now be part of the Crosby ISD and the Newport Elementary family!

Born and raised in the Humble area, I am a proud graduate of Aldine ISD. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education from Sam Houston State University and my master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University.

I am passionate about supporting students on their journey to becoming lifelong learners, and I am committed to helping every child grow, succeed, and thrive.
